Description

It's the eve of Chinese New Year, and the world is about to end.

The veil between the spirit world and earth is the thinnest the night before the new year. Nian has possessed the twelve zodiac animals and is ready to flood the human world with evil spirits. Journey through a vast interconnected realm, exorcise corrupted spirits, and save the world before it's too late.

Lunar Crypt is a Chinese mythology-inspired action-puzzle metroidvania inspired by Celeste, Hollow Knight, and Tomb of the Mask.

You play as a traditional Chinese ritual exorcist lost in the spirit world. Journey across a vast spirit realm, battle legendary creatures from Chinese folklore, befriend a cast of mythological characters, and free the zodiac animals to restore balance before Chinese New Year is lost forever.

Lunar Crypt combines a forgiving learning curve with fair but challenging gameplay and satisfying, responsive movement. Enter the spirit realm to discover the beautiful, mythological world that awaits.

Gameplay

Lunar Crypt is built upon one extremely simple mechanic: sliding in one direction until you hit a wall. Already, this simple mechanic lends itself well to challenging time-based levels, puzzling routes, and satisfying pathfinding.

We've built upon this core mechanic, layering the complexity and raising the skill ceiling, with additional obstacles, objects, and abilities.
